Good News, Music Industry — American Jobs Are Storming Back as States Reopen

Photo Credit: Free To Use Sounds

With American jobs storming back as states continue to reopen following widespread lockdown measures stemming from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, artists and music industry professionals – who have been hit especially hard by the crisis – stand to gain.

It’s hardly a secret that COVID-19 has had a particularly devastating impact upon members of the music industry. Virtually all crowd-based events – including music festivals and concerts – have been postponed or canceled.

Plus, artists, engineers, and recording studios themselves suffered as a result of lockdown measures, and a host of indie record shops scrambled to make ends meet while lacking customers and income. To be sure, record stores are still struggling to stay afloat, but being able to welcome shoppers once again is a major step in the right direction.

More generally, recent economic trends bode well for the music industry; as the broader market returns to form, so too will the entertainment sphere.

The United States gained 2.5 million jobs in May as businesses resumed (somewhat) normal operations. The country’s 13.3 percent unemployment rate, while far from optimal, is decidedly less than the nearly 20 percent unemployment rate that many financial professionals forecasted.

On the novel coronavirus front, America’s new infection rate is largely holding steady despite states reopening their economies, an uptick in close interaction, and notably more tests being administered. Moreover, some of the nation’s hardest-hit locations are showing signs of improvement; Wednesday marked New York City’s first day without a COVID-19 death since March, when the pandemic picked up steam in America.

Finally, some experts believe that several hundred million doses of a novel coronavirus vaccine could become available by this year’s end.

In summary, these points are helping the formerly bustling music industry regain its footing. It’s impossible to say for certain when artists and professionals will enjoy the same career prospects and earning potential as they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic’s debut, but undoubtedly, recent happenings have painted an encouraging picture of the future.

Frozen the Musical Officially Shuts Down — Aladdin and The Lion King Still Going

Having been “put on ice” back in March during the novel coronavirus’s domestic onset, “Frozen the Musical” has officially ended its Broadway run, according to Disney.

In explaining the decision, executives from the animation giant’s theater division cited the fiscal implications of having three Broadway performances running simultaneously – “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” are expected to continue showing post-shutdown.

Additionally, despite the stellar box-office results turned in by its namesake film, “Frozen the Musical” reportedly sold fewer tickets (overall and on a weekly basis) than its Broadway counterparts.

“Frozen the Musical” opened on Broadway back in 2018 and ran exactly 851 shows at the St. James Theatre, the last of which took place on March 11th of this year. Presently, it’s unclear which play the Theatre will host next; The Beatles-inspired “Let it Be” and Green Day’s “American Idiot” are among the high-profile works that have been shown at the venue in the past.

The Broadway League revealed in an update this week that the “ongoing suspension” of performances will continue “until further notice,” before expanding the ticketing refund/exchange window to include events scheduled through September 6th.

Addressing the prospects of reopening in a statement, Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin said: “While all Broadway shows would love to resume performances as soon as possible, we need to ensure the health and well-being of everyone who comes to the theatre. Throughout this challenging time, we have been in close communication with Governor Cuomo’s office and are grateful for his support and leadership as we work together to bring back this vital part of New York City’s economy – and spirit.”

Yesterday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo extended his state’s stay-at-home order through June 13th. As of late, the Empire State’s 56th governor has detailed “phase one” reopening plans for several regions. New York, along with most other states and many countries, is taking preliminary steps to resume semi-normal operations.

To date, New York has reported the most COVID-19 cases of any U.S. state, with approximately 343,000 of its citizens testing positive for the disease. North of 189,000 of these infections have derived from New York City.

Metropolitan Opera Is Furloughing Dozens as COVID-Related Losses Mount

New York City’s famous Metropolitan Opera is furloughing dozens of workers – and cutting the hours of 11 other employees – as its losses mount amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

Metropolitan Opera Manager Peter Gelb announced the unfortunate cost-cutting measures in a recent interview. He attributed the furloughs, which impacted 41 of his company’s almost 240 team members, to the far-reaching nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of its associated lockdown measures, and uncertainty surrounding the Metropolitan Opera’s planned September 21st return.

The impacted employees will receive an additional paycheck, besides retaining their health insurance coverage. The Met has lost somewhere in the ballpark of $60 million since the novel coronavirus began spreading domestically, but Gelb doesn’t expect that further furloughs will be necessary in the near future.

Metropolitan Opera officials have taken a number of noteworthy steps to raise funds and keep fans entertained until traditional performances can safely resume. The Met’s on-demand streaming service is available for $14.99 per month or $150 per year (though Met Members are entitled to a 33 percent discount), and it offers high-definition footage of over 700 Met shows.

Bolstered promotional efforts and a widespread desire for worthwhile entertainment have resulted in the streaming service adding some 15,000 paid subscribers throughout the pandemic.

Additionally, the Met has started streaming one of its shows for free each night. Viewers are encouraged to donate if they enjoy the entertainment, which is accessible via the Met’s app. And two Saturdays back, the company hosted a four-hour-long At-Home Gala, which featured livestream performances from 40 or so artists.

New York State (and especially New York City) has been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus crisis. Medical professionals have diagnosed nearly 320,000 COVID-19 cases in the state (of about 1.25 million total infections in the U.S.), and almost 20,000 New Yorkers have perished as a result of the disease’s complications – the most of any state in America.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has indicated that his state will reopen once the COVID-19 infection rate drops further yet.

Spotify Faces Litigation for Allegedly Stealing Trade Secrets

Spotify is being sued for allegedly stealing proprietary audio-ad creation tools from a Canadian company called VoxTonePRO.

The Mujae Group, which operates as VoxTonePRO, submitted its complaint to a federal court in Delaware, and a copy of the filing was shared with Digital Music News this morning. Essentially, the case centers on Spotify’s alleged theft of VoxTonePRO’s proprietary digital-ad solutions, which the plaintiff claims were disclosed when Spotify gave the impression that a partnership was imminent.

No such partnership arrived, however, and per the filing, “Spotify brushed VoxTonePRO aside” after securing the information and knowledge needed to debut its own ad-creation program.

The legal document identifies VoxTonePRO’s allegedly hijacked intellectual property as “a scalable, cost-efficient, self-service online application that generates audio ads with voiceover narrations, music and/or sound effects.”

It bears mentioning that, earlier this month, Digital Music News first reported that Spotify’s Ad Studio had left beta and debuted in countries around the globe. Ad Studio enables advertisers to submit a script, select a voice type, and specify the location where the advert will air; Spotify then sends a completed, broadcast-ready ad back within 48 hours.

VoxTonePRO offers its audio ads for $13.99 or so and also turns orders around in 48 or fewer hours, according to the filing; the plaintiff maintains that its model “was unique in the field of audio ads” when Spotify learned of it.

The filing notes that, in 2015, VoxTonePRO considered partnering with Facebook or Spotify, but chose the latter because Spotify advertisers were required to invest a minimum of $25,000 per campaign and “ads took extensive time to produce”; VoxTonePRO believed it could assist the Stockholm-based brand.

These preliminary conversations didn’t bring about a partnership contract, but 17 or so months later, Spotify reached out to VoxTonePRO, according to the filing, and expressed a renewed interest in its software.

The Spotify employee tasked with developing an audio-ad solution met with VoxTonePRO’s head at Spotify’s New York City offices, according to the legal text, at which point “VoxTonePRO revealed its trade secrets” because a partnership deal was believed to be in the cards.

Additionally, the filing states that Spotify gained access to VoxTonePRO’s password-protected website, also because of the assumed partnership, and gathered further trade secrets.

At the time of this writing, Spotify hadn’t addressed the lawsuit publicly. Yesterday, we covered the leading music streaming platform’s impressive Q1 2020 performance.

Beyoncé Donates $6 Million Towards Mental Health Causes During COVID-19 Lockdowns

Beyoncé and her BeyGOOD charitable foundation have pledged $6 million to the fight against the novel coronavirus.

The 38-year-old announced the sizable contribution in a press release, which was shared with Digital Music News. BeyGOOD is presently supporting “organizations that are on the ground 24/7,” including Houston-based Bread of Life (which chiefly provides meals to homeless persons), Batavia, New York’s United Memorial Medical Center, and Matthew 25: Ministries (which offers food, clothing, shelter, and medicine to in-need individuals), among several others.

This newest $6 million funding will reach mental-health organizations and assist them in aiding those who require support. Specifically, UCLA, Los Angeles, will receive funds to develop digital resources designed to reduce stress and anxiety, while a portion of the cash will also benefit the National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) and its Houston, New Orleans, New York City, and Detroit divisions.

Beyoncé, like Rihanna and Jay-Z, has partnered with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall initiative to make the donation. Dorsey previously voiced his intention to contribute $1 billion to COVID-19 relief.

Additionally, Beyoncé and BeyGOOD’s statement emphasized once again the coronavirus crisis’s disproportionate impact on “communities of color,” which are “underserved” and possessed “already lacking funds for education, housing, and health” prior to the domestic onset of the pandemic.

Beyoncé previously spoke of the matter in a clip that aired during Lady Gaga and the World Health Organization’s One World: Together at Home event. “This virus is killing black people at an alarmingly high rate,” she said.

In recent weeks, Rihanna and her Clara Lionel Foundation have also made headlines for high-value coronavirus-relief donations. Rihanna’s first major COVID-19 aid package came late last month, when she gave $5 million to various relief organizations, $700,000 of which was earmarked specifically for ventilators.

Two weeks back, Rihanna followed up her debut COVID-19 charitable undertaking with a $4.2 million pledge, and then another, $6.2 million contribution; both were in partnership with Jack Dorsey.

Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, gave to the latter fund (with Rihanna and Dorsey) via his Shawn Carter Foundation. However, he subsequently came under fire when he started furloughing employees and cutting salaries.

To date, medical professionals have diagnosed nearly 2.8 million worldwide coronavirus cases; over 193,000 have perished from the virus, while approximately 765,000 individuals have fully recovered.

The ‘Other Music’ Documentary Was Planned for Record Store Day. Now It’s Going 100% Virtual, With Profits Benefiting Shuttered Independent Record Stores

Other Music, a documentary that explores the influence of the namesake record store on artists and New York City’s music scene, is set to receive a “Virtual Cinema” release.  Some of the profits will benefit temporarily closed record stores and theaters.

Having debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, Other Music was originally slated to open in theaters on April 17th to coincide with Record Store Day 2020. However, as the coronavirus crisis has forced Record Store Day’s postponement, and virtually all independent record stores and movie theaters have temporarily closed their doors, the plan was placed on hold.

Now, the work’s distributor, Factory 25, along with independent film mainstay Oscilloscope Laboratories, has decided to back a digital-release plan. Other Music will arrive exclusively on more than 50 theater and independent record store websites on April 17th; the film is expected to make its way to other streaming platforms three or so months later.

Once fans have purchased a rental via their favorite record store’s website (here’s the full list of participating businesses), they’ll receive an email link to view the film. As with most other on-demand movie rentals, Other Music will be streamable for 72 hours after it’s initially played.

Fifty percent of each rental’s net profits will reach the corresponding record store or theater.

Created by Rob Hatch-Miller and Puloma Basu, Other Music features interviews with Benicio del Toro, Vampire Weekend, and Yoko Ono, among others. The critically acclaimed film relays Other Music’s cultural influence, in addition to its profound impact on New York’s music community.

Last month, Digital Music News was the first to report that coronavirus concerns had prompted Record Store Day 2020’s delay. The worldwide celebration of independent record stores is tentatively scheduled to begin on June 20th.

Carnegie Hall Cancels Entire Season — Projects $9MM Shortfall

Carnegie Hall is canceling the rest of its season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Performances scheduled through July 25 are now canceled – that’s roughly 30% of this season’s schedule. Previously, Carnegie Hall announced closures through March 31. The venue later changed the date to May 11 as the coronavirus crisis in New York City worsened. All Carnegie-produced engagements are also cancelled.

The company is projecting a $9 million operating loss on its $104 million budget. It is now reconsidering its overall outlook on future programming and operations through the 2020-2021 season.

Carnegie Hall will expand its digital offerings, including remote concerts from musicians. The company is also looking at doing interviews and feature series and offering public access to archived recordings.

Executive and Artistic Director Clive Gillinson made the tough call. It is the first deficit the company has run since he joined the company in 2005. During the Great Recession in 2008, the budget cuts were around 20%.

Carnegie Hall employs around 400 people in various full and part-time positions. As of the time of writing, the company has not announced any layoffs.

Gillinson says that Carnegie has made all the cuts it possibly can this year.  “I want to thank everyone in the Carnegie Hall family for their extraordinary commitment to helping us ensure that we do our very best to secure the future of our unique institution,” he said in a statement.

“As we devise how best to start building back to an even better future in the face of the most traumatic of times for everyone across the entire nation and around the world. I know that our shared vision and a shared passion for the central importance of music in everyone’s lives, along with the support of the public, will help us stay the course, guiding us to a place where Carnegie Hall will continue to thrive.”

Ulrik Munther – Daughter lyrics

[Verse 1]
Early morning I watch you sleep
Not everyone is as lucky as me
I kiss your forehead before I leave
Soon you’ll be old and forget how it feels
To be young and in love
For the very first time build our home of our own
Have a child … what it’s like
When the sun is begining to rise

[Chorus]
Oh, how I hope that if we have a daughter
She’ll grow up to be like you
If she sometimes takes after her father
That would be okay too

[Verse 2]
We could move to another country
Grow our own food, get a couple of sheep
Or a place in maybe New York City
Right by the Statue of Liberty
Cause I know I’ll be fine
Just as long as I’ve got you right here by my side
There’s no fear in my eyes
So take me wherever you like

[Chorus]
And oh, how I hope that if we have a daughter
She’ll grow up to be like you
And if she sometimes takes after her father
That would be okay too

Meek Mill Gets 4 Years Prison Sentence For Probation Violation

Meek Mill violated his probation and now he is heading back to prison for up to four years.

The Philadelphia rapper turned up to court today with his attorney, Brian McMonagle, where he learned his fate. Meek Mill has been having a string of legal victories over the past couple of weeks, but today his luck ran out when a judge ruled that he violated his probation when he was recently arrested in New York City. Although he struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time, Meek still found himself in deeper legal problems with his probation.

The Dreamchasers rapper was sentenced to 2-4 years in a state prison, TMZ reported. He also violated his probation for an alleged fight at St. Louis airport. In that case too, the charge was dismissed. Meek Mill has been on probation for a 2009 gun and drug charge. As part of his probation, he cannot have any runnings with law enforcement including getting arrested.

Although the charges were dismissed, the judge ruled that the arrest alone is a violation of his probation. In 2015, Meek Mill violated his probation when he traveled out of state to an award show with Nicki Minaj without permission. He got off on just three months of house arrest. This time he might not be so lucky and could serve up to four years of prison time.

Meek Mill has been working hard to rehabilitate his image in recent years through a number of charitable initiatives and at one point he even announced on social media that he will stop recording music with violent lyrics. That effort was clearly not enough to get him into good grace with the judge. Since the news broke, he has been getting some support from his celebrity peers. It’s not clear when his sentence will start.

Meek Mill Reacts To Prison Sentence For Probation Violation

Meek Mill is taking his 2-4 years prison sentence for probation violation positively.

The “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper has shared his reaction to news that he is going back to prison and could be gone for a while. “We go to war for our freedom,” he wrote on Instagram on Monday. “They say we equal I used to wanna play I like Randall and be a Eagle I used to play the quarterback my homie would go receiver that was until the football got flattened by a dope needle on the pavement.”

Meek Mill turned up to court in Philadelphia on Monday with his attorney, Brian McMonagle, where he learned his fate. A judge ruled that he violated his probation when he got arrested in St. Louis earlier this year for an alleged fight with an airport employee, and again this summer in New York City for popping wheelies on his motorcycle in the streets of NY. He was charged with assault in the St. Louis case and for reckless driving and endangerment for the New York case.

Both charges were eventually dropped after he took a plea deal, but the judge rule that he violated his parole just by getting arrested. This is a big blow to Meek Mill who has been rehabilitating his image over the last few years with a number of charitable initiatives and getting more involve in his community. Meek has been getting some support from some of his celebrity peers like Kevin Hart who shared a supporting message.

“Praying for my brother [Meek Mill] right now,” Hart wrote. “God sometimes puts the toughest battles on his strongest soldiers. I’m here for you man!!!! My brother for life… Always here for you man!!! This storm will pass… Stay strong & keep your head up.”

Meek Mill will have to serve a minimum of two years in prison for violating his probation and could serve as much as four years.

JAY-Z Speaks On Meek Mill Prison Sentence “It’s Unjust”

JAY-Z is supporting Meek Mill amidst his shocking 2-4 years prison sentence for probation violation calling the sentencing “unjust.”

In a rare public statement, the Roc Nation boss posted a message on his official Facebook account criticizing the judge sentencing while stating that he will always stand by Meek Mill. “The sentence handed down by the Judge — against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer — is unjust and heavy handed. We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career,” Hov wrote.

A judge handed down the heavy sentencing on Monday after ruling that Meek Mill violated his probation when he got arrested twice this year. Although the charges against the Philly rapper was eventually dropped, the judge ruled that the arrest alone was a violation of his parole. Meek has been on probation for a gun and drug charge dated back to 2009. In 2015, he served three months on house arrest for violating his probation by traveling out of state without permission. In March of this year, he was arrested and charged with assault which is a misdemeanor following an altercation at the St. Louis airport. In August he found himself in police custody again for stunting in the streets of New York City.

For both charges, he struck a plea deal that leaves him with just community service and the arrest records wiped clean from his name. Meek Mill has been getting a lot of support from his fans and celebrity peers including Kevin Hart who shared a message on Instagram. The Philly rapper also reacted to news of his sentencing writing, “They say we equal I used to wanna play I like Randall and be a Eagle I used to play the quarterback my homie would go receiver that was until the football got flattened by a dope needle on the pavement.”

Lyrics Autograf – Sleepless in NYC

Could I stand by, while we watched it fall
Fortunes are fading, do we hit the wall
So stay right next to me

‘Cause your body’s all I need
Maybe we’re not what we were before
Strangers passing, all for starters now
There’s nothing left to hold
And the night is all I know.(sleepless in nyc)

Getting high ’til the sun goes down
Lift my head and I leave the ground
I know I said that I need this town
I need you back, wrap it up did the best of me
Neon lights come and set me free
Close my eyes and I know I’ll be.

Sleepless in Nyc, City, City. (x4)

If I could try getting you alone
You could remember that I feel like home
But I can’t sleep and the night is all I see.

Getting high ’til the sun goes down
Lift my head and I leave the ground
I know I said that I need this town
I need you back, wrap it up did the best of me
Neon lights come and set me free
Close my eyes and I know I’ll be.

Sleepless in New York City, City, Cityyy. (x4)

VERITE – When you’re gone

Sitting in depression
Always carving me irreverent
If I pray the wayward lesson
But your mouth can do it better
Then some god who don’t speak

Fucking up my language
Make some words, we’re never fading
If you stay, say you’ll save me
You can take it all away
When you leave I’ll feel the same

I don’t mind you leaving when the damage is done
And I don’t mind, I feel the same when you’re gone

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

Baby take me back to New York City
Where the stars don’t ever see me
I can hide under the scenery of a saturated sky
Just some conjugated meaning
Watch the light drip down your face
And when you’ll leave I’ll feel the same

I don’t mind you leaving when the damage is done
And I don’t mind, I feel the same when you’re gone

[Instrumental break]

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

‘Cause once your loss, once your lies
I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore
There’s no difference here for when you’re gone, when you’re gone
I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here

(I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here)
(I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here)
(I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here)

Hot sauce – Young M.A lyrics

Lyrics Young M.A – Hot sauce

Straight off the top
M.A bring them hoes out
Redlyfe bring them poles out.(hot sauce)

Pull up to the club with a bottle on me (that Henny)
I’m already sipping
Got five voicemails, I just left the brib
And my b*tch, she already tripping
Blu just rolled a blunt, he like, “bro you good?”
I’m like, “nah bro, let me hit it”
Puff puff drink, I don’t wanna think
Groupies want a picture, groupies gotta wait
I’m in another zone, I’m in another zone
My girl getting on my nerves, I ain’t going home
Ain’t got time for this shit (I don’t got time for this shit)
I ain’t got time for this b*tch (I don’t got time for this b*tch)
Throwing ones like money grow on trees
So when I look down all I see is green
Never look for love in the strip club
Where all the bartenders give me big hugs, wait
Hold up, turn around, tssk, girl
Where you think you going with that big butt?
Brown water sippin’ in that big cup
My nigga Bottle only rolling big blunts
Chill dude, you are not a tough guy
Not the only one with a gun, guy
My hitters like shootin’ shit for fun, guy
Head shot, hit the boy one time
Do not come to Brooklyn with that nonsense
I used to bag the work in them apartments
Now I get a bag for a walkthrough
If you want to book me, Big Savage who you talk to
While they making disses I’m just making hits
‘Cause if it don’t make dollars it don’t make no sense
This is chess, not checkers, learn the game dude
But I just can’t relate ’cause that’s what lames do
Big brown bone, she look like Babe Ruth
She let me hit it out the park like I’m Babe Ruth
Then I hit my dougie, ooh I’m pretty though
Bring that Hilfiger back and I’m jiggy though
Niggas know I’m hot but they envy though
Oh well, at least my b*tch is with me ho
This her favorite song, this her favorite song (OOOUUU)
She get in her Birk when they put this on
Owww, that’s the thot call
OOOUUU, shawty got that hot sauce
My guys don’t talk, they just pop off
If a thot tryna front, she’ll get dropped off
My homie Sav in that Porsche with the top off
I’m in that Audi with some slippers and some socks on
Doin’ 95 just to piss a cop off
Then I pull up to your hood and piss your block off (skrt skrt)
b*tch I got that hot sauce
So NY with these Timbs on
And shoutout to the girls who don’t wear sew-ins
Cause it’s all about my b*tches with the wigs on, OOOUUU
You don’t got no hot sauce
You are not hot, you a knockoff
f*ck around boy and get your top knocked off
Hear them hoes, yeah they quick to really pop off
And them Redlyfe niggas, yeah they pop off
And you know this the beat I can bop on
Yeah we bop on, New York City bop on ’em
Yeah we bop, I’ma bop, I’ma bop on ’em
OOOUUUUUU versuri-lyrics.info
Yeah we got that hot sauce
But you niggas got no hot sauce
This the type of beat I can bop on
I need a quick thot that can top off
This the year that I really get my guap on
And you know the whole game, I got a lock on
It’s Young M.A, Redlyfe, got that hot sauce
Redlyfe got that hot sauce
Shawty you don’t got no hot sauce
Nah, you don’t got no hot sauce
You don’t got no hot sauce
Them Redlyfe niggas got that hot sauceee.

Ricky Martin – Livin’ La Vida Loca

She’s into superstitions
Black cats and voodoo dolls
I feel a premonition
That girl’s gonna make me fall
She’s into new sensation
New kicks in the candlelight
She’s got a new addiction
For every day and night
She’ll make you take your
Clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She’ll make you live her crazy life
But she’ll take away your pain
Like a bullet to your brain

Upside inside out
She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
Livin’ la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin’ la vida loca
She’s livin la vida loca

Woke up in New York City
In a funky cheap hotel
She took my heart
And she took my money
She must’ve slipped me a sleepin’ pill
She never drinks the water
And makes you order
French champagne
Once you’ve has a taste of her
You’ll never be the same
Yeah, she’ll make you go insane

Upside inside out
She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
Livin’ la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin’ la vida loca
She’s livin la vida loca

She’ll make you take your
Clothes off and go dancing in the rain
She’ll make you live her crazy life
Until you go insane
No, you’ll never be the same

Upside inside out
She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
Livin’ la vida loca
Her lips are devil red
And her skin’s the color of mocha
She will wear you out
Livin’ la vida loca
Livin’ la vida loca
Livin’ la vida loca
Livin’ la vida loca

Upside inside out
She’s livin’ la vida loca
She’ll push and pull you down
Livin’ la vida loca

She will wear you out

Pitbull – International Love

You can’t catch me boy
I am overseas at about a hundred Gs for sure
Don’t test me boy (don’t test me boy) ’cause I rap with the best
Fo’ sho three oh five to the death of me
Cremate my body let the ocean have what’s left of me
But for now forget about that
Blow the whistle, baby you’re the referee

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

I don’t play football
But I’ve touched down everywhere (everywhere?) everywhere
I don’t play baseball
But I’ve hit a home run everywhere everywhere
I’ve been to countries and cities I can’t pronounce
And the places on the globe I didn’t know existed
In Romania she pulled me to the side
And told me Pit you can have me and my sister
In Lebanon yeah the women the bomb
And in Greece you guessed it the women are sweet
Been all around the world
But I ain’t gonna lie there’s nothing like Miami’s heat

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

Down in DR they’re looking for visa’s
I Ain’t taking credit cards if you know what I mean
En cuba la cosa esta dura
But the woman get down, if you know what I mean
En Colombia the women got everything done, but they’re
Some of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen
In Brazil they’re freaky with big ol’ boobs
And their thongs, blue yellow and green
En L.A. tengo la Mexicana, en New York tengo la boricua
Besitos para todas las mujeres en Venezuela, muah
Y en Miami tengo cualquiera

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

There’s not a place that your love don’t affect me baby
So don’t ever change
I crossed the globe when I’m with you baby, hey

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

You put it down like New York City
I never sleep wild like Los Angeles
My fantasy hotter than Miami I feel the heat
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love
Oh oh oh oh it’s international love

You’re international, so international
You’re international, so international
You’re international, so international
Whoa whoa oh whoa whoa oh, international love
Whoa whoa oh whoa whoa oh, international love

Cam’ron – Welcome To New York City (feat. Jay-Z & Juelz Santana)

Turn the motherfuckin’ music up
Just Blaze, man, you owe me nigga
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Welcome to the Empire State
Home of the World Trade
Birthplace of Michael Jordan
Home of Biggie Smalls
Roc-A-Fella headquaters
Ladies and gentlemen, Killa Cam, Young Hov is definitely in the building
Brooklyn, Harlem World
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City
Stand the fuck up

I’m a B.K. brawler, Marcy projects hallway loiterer
Pure coke copper, get your order up
I bring ’em to Baltimore in the Ford Explorer
It’s gonna cost you more if I gotta get ’em to Florida
Rucker game attender; with the Bent parked
On the sidewalk with the temp plates on the fender
I ain’t hard to find you catch me front and center
At the Knick game, big chain in all my splendor
Next to Spike if you pan left to right
I own Madison Square, catch me at the fight
But damn once again if you pan left at the ice
It be the man that write checks with the hand that don’t write
I go off the head when I’m rambling on the mic
And I go off the feds when I’m scrambling at night
And it was often said I brought hammers to the fight
But we from New York City, right Cam? (Ya damn right)

It’s the home of 9-11, the place of the lost towers
We still bangin’, we never lost power, tell em
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City
Y’all fuckin’ with BK’s banger and Harlem’s own gangster
Now that’s danger, there’s nothing left to say but
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City

Yo, there’s a war goin’ on outside no man is safe from
It don’t matter if you three feet or eight-one
You’ll get eight from the nine and straight blown
Wig split, melon cracked, all that on day one
Carry eight guns, two in the trunk
Two in the waist, two in the ankle, two to just spank you
You get jammed with them jammers, blammed with them blammers
Hot here, ask Mase he ran to Atlanta
Think you know what life do, minks on the motor-cycle
Trinkets they so delightful, blinging with so much ice fool
In front of Sparks body Castellano
Block away watch by Gotti and Gravano
It’s la cosra nostra, someone close approach ya
They’ll toast ya: gopher, bread loafer, your chauffeur
Old coke they raise up and snort, blaze up ya fort
Jay, Puff, Shyne: cases was caught
Midnight pitch fights, another victim
Watch him fore he watch you, Killa
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City

It’s the home of 9-11, the place of the lost towers
We still bangin’, we never lost power, tell em
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City
Y’all fuckin’ with BK’s banger and Harlem’s own gangster
Now that’s danger, there’s nothing left to say but
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City

I’m from 101, west a Hund 40th, this shit is live
5th floor, 56, you know the zip, district 5
You’re on 22nd, hit you from two-one
That’s on Lenox, 7th Ave was News One
Coverage at Centre Street
Got Brafman defendin’ me
Cause New York’ll miss me if I’m locked in the penitentiary
The judge said "Is this that thug, from the Kit-Kat club?"
But I got enough chips stacked up to make the bitch back up
Killa, I pinch that button, I grip that snub to hit that thug
Lay up in a pitch black tub
You lookin’ at rich black thugs to get that love
And we won’t stop til I get back Blood
Holla at em Hov

I’m from Flushing, Marcy, Nostrand, Myrtle and Park
Niggas’ll drive by in the day, murder you in the dark
That’s why the Johnny gun I’m holding
Wet niggas up like the johnny-pump is open
Homie, I play hard

It’s the home of 9-11, the place of the lost towers
We still bangin’, we never lost power, tell em
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City
Y’all fuckin’ with BK’s banger and Harlem’s own gangster
Now that’s danger, there’s nothing left to say but
Welcome to New York City, welcome to New York City

You all niggas, man
Y’all can’t fuck around, man
It’s the ROC bitch, Killa
My nigga Jigga, Siegel, Beans
Diplomats, man, holla, Dash
Get the fuck off our dick – no homo
Probably own this city for two minutes, man
I own this shit right now man, I ain’t going nowhere
Welcome to New York City

Hold on me – Mozzy feat. G-Eazy lyrics

Lyrics Mozzy – Hold on me

Shawty trynna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the moola really got a hold on me.

Yeah
I’m livin’ life like we ain’t promised tomorrow
Lotta dope smoked, lotta lotta gelato
Hundred band dance like niggas just hit the lotto
Got a greasy kid just to get in the condo
Backhand a b*tch for tryna bilk me with a condom
I can tell that you ain’t a gansta blood goofy with the ..
.., fifty thousand in diamonds just on my mama
Cautious when approaching a problem ..
You ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
If you ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
Still .. with expired tags on it
.. whatever you had on it, yeah
I fell off but baby I’m back on it, yeah
I fell off but baby I’m back on it
I really think the money got a hold on me
I’m tryna convince her that she should hold for me.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the mula really got a hold on meee.

I think the money really got a hold on me
I followed the code OGs told to me
And the game was given, it wasn’t sold to me
These hoes give it up to me because they owe it to me
I came up fully, I’m in a different bracket
Five bands for the leather, I’m in a different jacket
Money tall as Shaquille, I just been tryna stack it
Play me the beat and I kill, I’m trying to attack it
This game is too easy, I do this sh*t in my sleep
New York City, we mobbin’, I hit the club twenty deep
Cashin’ out when I feel like, Gerald never been cheap
It’s not that serious fam, I swear it isn’t that deep, uh
I swear it was perfect timing
If you ain’t ’bout a comma, then we ain’t nothing in common
The homies in black hoodies and beanies, they hella mobby
From Sac to the Bay, yeah you know that I f*ck with Mozzy
Ehhhh.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night
She know I got the plug for the right price
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the money really got a hold on me
I think the moola really got a hold on me.

Yeah I think this money really got a hold on me
Niggas can’t get a hold on me
Now them niggas talk low on me
f*ck .. what you change, used to be broke homie
Now I’m bossed up, Louis V., ..
Ferragamo, Benihana, every night I’m bossed up
My lifestyle awesome, this is how it ‘posed to be
I don’t believe in luck, my blessings really got a hold on me
Money ain’t controllin’ me, but money is controllin’ me
The money .. I get the green
Devils get up off of me, help me get them off of me
I call these hoes, sluts and b*tches, and I drink up all of it
My mama said don’t let the money make your head bigger
I’m cocky as f*ck and I don’t f*ck with niggas
And I don’t trust these b*tches, ever since the word ‘gold digger’
My homie fell in love, I told him “No nigga, no nigga”.

Shawty tryna throw it back all night (but he ain’t listen)
She know I got the plug for the right price (ohhh)
Pull up in the whip ..
I’m ten hoes deep in the ..
I think the money really got a hold on meee
I think the money really got a hold on me (this money nigga)
I think the money really got a hold on me (sh*t will f*ck up your life, but it’s nice)
I think the mula really got a hold on meee.

Joel Adams – Die For You

[Verse 1]
I wish I was a movie star
That ain’t happening
I wish I’d drive a fancy car (no)
Well I’d fly to New York City
But my plane could never get that far
‘Cause my life ain’t what I thought it was
Said you like all the fancy things
Diamonds, Pearls, and Louis Vuitton
But my package just ain’t that big (no)
Spent all my life-time running
But I still haven’t got that far

[Chorus]
For you I ain’t giving up
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

[Verse 2]
You think you got the best of me
Yeah well you’re probably right
But you ain’t seen the rest of me (no)
Spent all my life-time running
But I still haven’t got that far

[Chorus]
For you I ain’t giving up
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

[Bridge]
‘Cause maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong
Maybe I wrote in all down in a song
You say what you like, I say what I want
You give me a list that goes on and on
But everytime you walk out that door
You got me thinking, baby now I want you even more
So say what you like, I’ll say what I want
I need somebody to save me

[Chorus]
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, I tried
You’re everything I do
‘Cause baby I’d
Cause baby I’d die for you
I’d try for you, I’d live for you
You were all I do
Baby I’d die for you, and I tried
You’re everything I do
Baby that’s just not good enough for you

[Verse 1: Tory Lanez]
She better know that we fuckin’ when I come through
I ain’t with the cuffin’ when I come through
I ain’t with the buggin’ when I come through
She know I’m straight thuggin’ when I come through
Tell me what’s love, when I need that
Pull it down for me shawty, lemme see that
Do that thang thang, yeah you fucking right
Leave your nigga back, I’m tryna fuck tonight
You still on the down low
Still creep on your boy, still freak on the down low
You know what I’m round for
I done came round to see you drop down on me
Do it slowly
Buss it all open like you got a slow leak
I’ve been in the streets with three or four freaks
She is so bad might need a police
Stomach on flat, ass obese
Walk oh how the fuck you got in those jeans

[Hook: Ashanti & (Tory Lanez)]

Taylor Swift – Riptide Lyrics

I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You’re the magician’s assistant in their dreams

Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

There’s this movie that I think you’ll like
This guy decides to quit his job and heads to New York City
This cowboy’s running from himself
And she’s been living on the highest shelf

Oh, and they come unstuck

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can’t have it, I can’t have it any other way
I swear she’s destined for the screen
Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you’ve ever seen, oh

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong

Oh lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you’re singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat because
You’re gonna sing the words wrong
I got a lump in my throat because you’re gonna sing the words wrong

Mako – North Dakota (Hourglass Album)

[Verse 1]
I think that I’d love North Dakota
I saw it once inside a magazine
Get this chip up off of my shoulder
Settle down somewhere the grass is green

[Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause California dreams has too many sleepless nights
I wanna feel the earth beneath my feet
Been searching for relief from all these city lights
I just need a place to let me be

[Chorus]
Let me be free
Let me be whole again
Let me be me
Let me take hold again
Let me be free
Let me be free

[Verse 2]
I took a ride in New York City
But, it was too much cocaine and the girls ain’t cheap
I had to get out before it killed me
Running good ain’t running at that speed

[Pre-Chorus]
‘Cause California dreams has too many sleepless nights
I wanna feel the earth beneath my feet
Been searching for relief from all these city lights
I just need a place to let me be

[Chorus]
Let me be free
Let me be whole again
Let me be me
Let me take hold again
Let me be free
Let me be free

[Chorus]
Let me be free
Let me be whole again
Let me be me
Let me take hold again
Let me be free
Let me be whole again
Let me be me
Let me take hold again
Let me be free
Let me be free

SIA – Satisfied lyrics

A toast to the groom!
(to the groom, to the groom, to the groom)
To the bride!
(to the bride, to the bride, to the bride)
From your sister
(Angelica, Angelica, Angelica)
Who is always by your side
(by your side, by your side)
To your union and the hope that you provide
(you provide, you provide)
May you always (always)
Be satisfied (Rewind)

Rewind!
Rewind!
I remember that night, I just might
I remember that night, I just might
I remember that night, I remember that—

I remember that night, I just might
Regret that night for the rest of my days
I remember those soldier boys
Tripping over themselves to win our praise
I remember that dreamlike candlelight
Like a dream that you can’t quite place
But Alexander, I’ll never forget the first
Time I saw your face

I have never been the same
Intelligent eyes in a hunger-pang frame
And when you said “Hi,”
I forgot my dang name
Set my heart aflame, ev’ry part aflame
This is not a game…

You strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied
I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, you forget yourself
You’re like me, I’ve never been satisfied
Is that right?
I have never been satisfied
My name’s Angelica Schuyler
Alexander Hamilton
Where’s your fam’ly from?
Unimportant, there’s a million things I haven’t done
Just you wait, just you wait…

So so so—
So this is what it feels like to match wits
With someone at your level! What the hell is the catch? It’s
The feeling of freedom, of seein’ the light
It’s Ben Franklin with a key and a kite! You see it, right?
The conversation lasted two minutes, maybe three minutes
Ev’rything we said in total agreement, it’s
A dream and it’s a bit of a dance
A bit of a posture, it’s a bit of a stance
He’s a bit of a flirt, but I’m ‘a give him a chance
I asked about his fam’ly, did you see his answer?
His hands started fidgeting, he looked askance
He’s penniless, he’s flying by the seat of his pants

Handsome, boy, does he know it!
Peach fuzz, and he can’t even grow it!
I wanna take him far away from this place
Then I turn and see my sister’s face and she is

Helpless
And I know she is
Helpless
And her eyes are just
Helpless
And I realize three fundamental truths at the exact same time

I’m a girl in a world in which
My only job is to marry rich
My father has no sons so I’m the one
Who has to social climb for one
Cause I’m the oldest and the wittiest and the gossip in
New York City is insidious
And Alexander is penniless
Ha! That doesn’t mean I want him any less

(doesn’t mean I want him any less)
(doesn’t mean I want him any less)
(doesn’t mean I want him any less)

He’s after me ’cause I’m a Schuyler sister
That elevates his status, I’d
Have to be naïve to set that aside
Maybe that is why I introduce him to Eliza
Now that’s his bride
Nice going, Angelica, he was right
You will never be satisfied

(I will never be satisfied)
(I will never be satisfied)

I know my sister like I know my own mind
You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind
If I tell her that I love him she’d be silently resigned
He’d be mine
She would say, “I’m fine”
But she’d be lying

But when I fantasize at night
It’s Alexander’s eyes
As I romanticize what might have been
If I hadn’t sized him up so quickly
At least my dear Eliza’s his wife
At least I keep his eyes in my life…

To the groom!
(to the groom, to the groom, to the groom)
To the bride!
(to the bride, to the bride, to the bride)
From your sister
(Angelica, Angelica, Angelica)
Who is always by your side
(by your side, by your side)
To your union and the hope that you provide
(you provide, you provide)
May you always
Be satisfied

And I know (yeah)
She’ll be happy as his bride
And I know
He will never be satisfied
I will never be satisfied…

Stevie Wonder – Livin For The City

A boy is born in hard time Mississippi
Surrounded by four walls that ain’t so pretty
His parents give him love and affection
To keep him strong moving in the right direction
Living just enough, just enough for the city

His father works some days for fourteen hours
And you can bet he barely makes a dollar
His mother goes to scrub the floors for many
And you’d best believe she hardly gets a penny
Living just enough, just enough for the city yeah

His sister’s black but she is sho ’nuff pretty
Her skirt is short but Lord her legs are sturdy
To walk to school she’s got to get up early
Her clothes are old but never are they dirty
Living just enough, just enough for the city

Her brother’s smart he’s got more sense than many
His patience’s long but soon he won’t have any
To find a job is like a haystack needle
‘Cause where he lives they don’t use colored people
Living just enough, just enough for the city

Living just enough for the city

His hair is long, his feet are hard and gritty
He spends his life walking the streets of New York City
He’s almost dead from breathing in air pollution
He tried to vote but to him there’s no solution

Living just enough, just enough for the city yeah, yeah, yeah!

I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow
And that it motivates you to make a better tomorrow
This place is cruel no where could be much colder
If we don’t change the world will soon be over

Living just enough, just enough for the city!
